Was scrolling through YouTube (which I usually do) and saw Karlie Kloss’s video. Karlie Kloss is someone I always admire and look up to because she is a successful model and businesswoman. Karlie made a video about ‘23 things I’ve learnt in 23 years’ and it inspired me a lot. On regard of my 20th birthday, I thought it was a good idea for me to reflect my life in these 20 years.
1) Let go, and master the lessons.
Breakup, I’m not saying it was a pleasant experience, but it sure was the lesson of your life. Once you mastered your seclusion, you’ll realize it was just the start of a new chapter in your life, he/she never meant to be the end of your story. Be grateful for the hard times, as they will only make you stronger.
2) Do not judge.
People come in all different personalities, faces, and backgrounds. Never judge someone just because he/she acts differently than you. I was once a judgmental girl. Trust me. Badmouthing people won’t make you feel any happier. Be considerate. If you wish to be a part of someone’s future, respect his/her past.
3) It’s okay to leave.
Friendship is essential. However, everybody has toxic friendships. If you find yourself in one, it’s okay to leave. Stop chasing after people who don’t want you and don’t impose yourself on others. You should never get down on knees for leaving a position to make you feel contented. Your happiness is what all matters.
4) Seek God.
Good times or bad times, talk to God. Nothing is more practical than finding God.
5) Set deadlines and quotas in everything you do.
I’m not a motivated being. I always spend my time sleeping and procrastinating. Setting a deadline helped me to get everything right on track. These rules enable me to convince myself to finish whatever I have in hands. Therefore, forced deadlines are my best friend.
6) Closest people don’t certainly understand.
Sad but true. Sometimes those who are closest to you just don’t understand. You’ll just have to get used to it.
7) Don’t afraid to say No.
I was that kind of awkward girl who didn’t know how to reject stuffs, which always led to unwanted outcome. You don’t owe anybody anything. If you are basing your choices whether to say yes or no (in some particular situations), just stop. It’s worthless for all the trouble.
8) Advice is mostly meaningless, you have all the answers.
People always seek for advice but will never listen. This is because they had already made up their mind, and they’re expecting someone to agree with them.
9) Be grateful.
Someone somewhere is envy of your life.
10) Prioritise your family.
Family is my strength. They have given me endless love and supports that I couldn’t ask for more.
11) Invest in good shoes.
Don’t ever buy cheap shoes that are going to give you blisters. Trust me. You’ll regret.
12) Makeup is the bomb!
13) Appreciate your friends.
Invest in your friendship and never take them for granted. I promise. It’s going to be worth it.
14) Love yourself first.
Educate yourself, change your mindset, be optimistic, and love yourself.
15) He/she might not like you, but somebody else will.
16) Don’t take things personally.
Stop making assumptions about critiques seemingly pointed at you. Perhaps it’s not about you at all.
17) Exercise.
Sweat it out! Not only you can be healthy, but also physically attractive! It’s a win win.
18) There’s no way to hate food.
19) Never be afraid of change.
Change can be awkward and difficult. However, without change there is no improvement. Plus it usually turns out pretty well, or even better.
20) Grab every chance and opportunity you have.
If you are lucky enough to have one, take it. Don’t delay your decision as your opportunity may be missed.
